Starter issues on a new 6.4 swap

I got some questions yesterday and thought I'd post here to better help as this page grows. @Warren Ovard

This is a new build and in-house wiring, which can be a lot for anyone.

  1. flashed ecm/tcm no crank, no codes. A scanner can be used to see if there is a starter inhibit. The main things i see that cause this is tach signal, can H/L not hooked up, the driver's under-hood fuse box no power, Power feed to the smart junction box inside the cab.

  2. i would start by getting the starter to engage, and since this is a 12v, get it running and verify the tach works. No tach signal will for sure kill the starter logic. For testing, you can jump the yellow wire at the ecm plug under the hood closest to the fender. It's a small yellow wire and the only all-yellow wire. wiring info here as well. Once these steps are done, we can for sure work out any other issues.

  1. Jump the starter, just spins. Remove the starter spacer and try again, if nothing get a new starter.
